Things To Do In Birmingham This January

It's cold outside. I mean really cold! James Spann, our cities go to weather guy, says this is the coldest air we've experienced in Alabama in 18 years. It makes for a great night in front of the fire place drinking hot cocoa but then what? If you are like us trying to find something to do in Birmingham, Alabama in January we've found a few events that might help.

This weekend there's the Brickfair - Lego Fan Festival down at the BJCC (Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center). This looks to be a very cool event showcasing some Lego Works that are quite impressive. The cost is $8 a person and the event is 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Saturday 1/11/14 and Sunday 1/12/14. Information says to plan for about 90 minutes to go through all the exhibits.

Another fun event coming up will get your blood pumping, sugars up and benefit a great cause. The Krispy Kreme Doughnut Dash benefiting Children's Hospital is 1/25/14. The runners can run a 5K while stopping to eat a total of a dozen glazed doughnuts. The kids can participate in a 1 mile fun run that includes a doughnut at the halfway point. It's a great time outside to be had by all. To learn more click here.

There are other favorites to be on the look out for - the Circus will be at the BJCC 1/22-26/14 and the Boat Show will be down there 1/16-19/14. We love going to Airwalk in Greystone, or downtown to Pepper's Place and even braving the cold for our favorite parks when it's Sunny. The point is there's plenty to do even when it's cold so grab something warm to drink and make plans with a friend at one of the great events or places in town!
